UK sanctions list
Also called UK Sanctions List, FCDO sanctions list
The UK sanctions list is the official list of people, entities and ships designated or specified under UK sanctions regulations. It is published by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and gives the regime, the sanctions imposed and the reasons for each designation. Since 28 January 2026 it is the only source of UK designations.
How it works
Each entry records the name, aliases, identifying details, the sanctions regime, the measures that apply, such as an asset freeze, travel ban or director disqualification, and a statement of reasons. Ships are listed with their IMO number. The list is published as a search tool and as downloadable files, including XML and CSV, which screening systems load. Each entry carries a unique ID, and older entries keep their former OFSI group ID.
Until 28 January 2026, OFSI also published a consolidated list of asset freeze targets. That list closed on that date, so firms that screened against it had to switch their data feeds to the UK sanctions list and update any logic built on OFSI group IDs. Firms screen customers, payments and counterparties against the list, act on new designations without delay and report frozen assets and suspected breaches to OFSI.

Is the OFSI consolidated list still updated?
No. It closed on 28 January 2026 and remains only for reference. The UK sanctions list is now the only source of UK designations.
Does the UK sanctions list cover more than asset freezes?
Yes. It records all sanctions imposed on each entry, including asset freezes, travel bans, trust services restrictions, director disqualification and ship specifications.
Do UK firms also need to screen against EU and US lists?
UK law requires compliance with UK sanctions. Firms with EU or US operations, customers or dollar and euro payments also screen against the EU consolidated list and the SDN list.
